The year 1947, on August 29- a resolution was moved to appoint a Drafting Committee —— under the Chairmanship of Dr. Bhimrao Ramji Ambedkar, the committee of Two-Hundred and Ninety-Nine Constituent Assembly members took the role and responsibility to draft the permanent Constitution of India. On 4th November 1947 the nominated Draft Committee submitted its drafted constitution to the Constituent Assembly. In a duration of Two-Years – Eleven-Months and Eighteen-Days, the Assembly met in open to public sessions for One-Hundred and Sixty-Six days -and- after several deliberations and some modifications the Constitution of India was compiled into two handwritten copies of documents -one in Hindi, and another in English. On 24th January 1950 both these copies of Constitution of India was signed by the 308 constituent assembly members——then two days later on 26th January 1950 the Constitution of India came into effect —— and, on that day Dr. Rajendra Prasad was sworn in as the first President of the Indian Union -and- under the transitional provisions of this Constitution of India, the constituent assembly became the Parliament of India.
